World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost an item's gear score up to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example the perfect broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't change much after an upgrade and aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. In addition, many weapons have a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. This bonus may exceed the damage that a weapon upgrade alone can cause.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is generally an excellent thing, it can have some negative effects as well. For items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them can render them useless unless you have an extremely lucky roll.
Armor items can be upgraded to improve their stats. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms it will boost its base defense while gloves and belts will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats it will gain when upgraded, along with their relative values. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon receiving 33% attack damage. However the 3% does not mean that it will hit 3 times less often because it's an absolute number.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button that has circling arrows in the item menu. This will roll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE improvements in the resistance to poison, curses, fire, and magic. This can make it easier to traverse difficult areas. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you get from each point of health you possess, so it's important to improve your armor as much as you can.
To upgrade your armor, go to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main side quest and have completed the fountain in question and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold conditions, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to withstand an entire raid with a few of your friends.
You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or spell power. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear by the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Generally speaking, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have some upgrades of the helmets and chest armor that permit you to sneak past certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. Alternatively the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by making them using a craft table or in the chest of the Alchemist. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion as well as the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens an GUI where you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate in the event that you use it again or break the bottle in which it is stored. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For instance the splash potions now have an average duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display). The table for potion is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be used in cauldrons. The same applies to the use of a potion in an empty cauldron. This will draw out the potion, and refill the bottle.
There are also simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can also be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effect. The potion table has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, for instance, the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an ornament or object that has a purpose but isn't important, like a trinket. In certain cultures, a trinket is used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
In addition to weapons, armor and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets like other items which can be upgraded can be exchanged at any time without losing statistics.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a new trinket. item upgrade can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Once the old Trinkets are not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value with time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their top-priority items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are upgraded first before their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding on which items to upgrade players must also be aware of the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player and they want to upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade is likely to destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
